Karen Cesarano

Karen Cesarano completed her undergraduate and master's studies in Clinical Psychology at La Sapienza University in Rome. She is an internationally certified Integrative Psychotherapist, Trainer, and Supervisor (CIIPTS) with the International Integrative Psychotherapy Association (IIPA), as well as a Certified Transactional Analyst (CTA-P) and Provisional Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst (PTSTA-P) in the field of psychotherapy.

Karen has over 30 years of experience working as a qualified psychotherapist. She has worked in the non governmental sector within a residential mental health community, maintained a private psychotherapy practice, and for many years has organized and facilitated experiential psychotherapy marathons. She is fluent in Italian and English, lives and works in the United Kingdom and Italy, and delivers training, supervision, and experiential workshops worldwide.

Throughout her long professional career, she has developed a particular interest in body psychotherapy and the impact of early developmental experiences, especially emotional dysregulation, on our neurobiological, cognitive, affective, and behavioral functioning. She continually develops her expertise and follows contemporary psychotherapeutic approaches in the fields of polyvagal theory, complex trauma, dissociation, and implicit memory.

Karen is this year’s recipient of the award for Special Contribution to the Development of Integrative Psychotherapy across multiple countries worldwide, granted by the Executive Board of the International Integrative Psychotherapy Association (IIPA).
